Now a Netflix original series starring Austin Abrams and Midori Francis! A whirlwind holiday season romance from the New York Times bestselling authors of Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist. “I’ve left some clues for you. If you want them, turn the page. If you don’t, put the book back on the shelf, please.” 16-year-old Lily has left a red notebook full of challenges on her favorite bookstore shelf, waiting for just the right guy to come along and accept its dares. Dash, in a bad mood during the holidays, happens to be the first guy to pick up the notebook and rise to its challenges. What follows is a whirlwind romance as Dash and Lily trade dares, dreams, and desires in the notebook they pass back and forth at locations all across New York City. But can their in-person selves possibly connect as well as their notebook versions, or will their scavenger hunt end in a comic mismatch of disastrous proportions? Co-written by Rachel Cohn (GINGERBREAD) and David Levithan, co-author of WILL GRAYSON, WILL GRAYSON with John Green (THE FAULT IN OUR STARS), DASH & LILY'S BOOK OF DARES is a love story that will have readers scouring bookstore shelves, looking and longing for a love (and a red notebook) of their own.

Discharge is the comic story of four gay sailors being released from the Navy in 1995. While stationed in Western Australia, Hospital Corpsman Mickey Matlin, the married father of two young children, is discovered in an intimate situation with 19-year-old Seaman Apprentice Eddie Vasquez. Journalist Jon Gates is dumped by the base dentist at the same time, and in a somewhat dramatic fashion, he informs the Legal Officer he is gay and requests a release from the Navy ASAP. No hard feelings. He simply wants to be free of the military in the same way Elizabeth Taylor wanted to be rid of Eddie Fisher after she met Richard Burton. Arrangements are made for the sailors to journey to Treasure Island, off the coast of San Francisco. In Perth, they meet up with Machinists Mate Lawrence Watts who is also en route to the states for a medical discharge. Their travels take them through New Zealand, Sidney, and Honolulu. They consider the trip a last fling of sorts that is, until they reach Treasure Island where they are tossed into a daytime jail disciplinary barracks, which allows them evening liberty in San Francisco. There is screaming and some sex, as each man struggles to construct a new life outside of the military. Young Vasquez deals with coming out issues. Watts learns to accept his HIV status, and Mickey Matlin must confront his wife, who joins them in San Francisco from their rural Illinois home. Their stories are related through letters, journal entries, and other fairy tales that document their military discharges.

A historical saga of one strong woman’s journey from poverty and servitude in New York City to a new life in turn-of-the-century San Francisco. At ten, Lily Malone watched her mother die in their shabby apartment on Mulberry Street. Ma’s last wish was for Lily to keep an eye on her wild, rebellious brother—but after the two children move into the Catholic orphanage, she’s helpless to stop Fergy from abandoning her and heading out west to find gold in California. With the last of her family gone, Lily has little choice but to eventually accept a position in another family’s household. They’re Irish like her, but far wealthier—and it is here that the innocent girl begins to understand that she has little to bargain with aside from her beauty. This is the story of a young woman fighting her way out of hardship, as she learns to sell her body at an elegant brothel; becomes a mother desperately trying to keep the truth from her daughter; and finally is forced by love to return to the city of her shame and seek to conquer it. Moving from tenement squalor to the Fifth Avenue splendor of old New York, from the rolling decks of a great clipper ship to the brawling streets and magnificent Nob Hill mansions of San Francisco, through storm and earthquake and fire, Lily Cigar is a breathless saga of love, intrigue, and illicit passion.

‘This book was laugh-out-loud hilarious and give-me-a-box-of-tissues heartbreaking. I loved it so much!... I literally went back and reread some parts a few times just because they were so funny! It’s a beautiful story and I’m sure it’ll stick with me.’ Tales of a Bookbound Mum, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The must-read book of 2019! Equal parts heartwarming and heartbreaking, fans of Jojo Moyes, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine and One Day in December will love this special novel by Drew Davies. Dear Lily, It’s me, Joy, your much wiser and (very slightly) older sister. I thought I’d start a new tradition of letter writing – now that we’re long distance. On the plane over here, I began to cry in seat 21C. I think the magnitude of it finally hit me, after everything that happened… I haven’t even unpacked yet – the only thing I’ve taken out of my suitcase is Harville, your beloved childhood teddy. Sorry for stealing him, but I need him more than you do. Every time I look at that little brown bear I think about our childhood. Remember that dance we made up to Annie’s ‘It’s a Hard Knock Life’? (Remember the broom choreography?) I’m also sorry for abandoning you – I’ve always been your agony aunt, and a buffer in your infamous shouting matches with Mum. But I had to leave, Lily, I had to. Anyway, I’m here now. I’m here to start over, and to face up to the past. I want to learn to laugh again, and to find someone to love who will maybe even love me back. You always told me I was just getting by, not actually living, so I’m finally doing it. Wish me luck, little sister. Love, Joy x A beautiful book-club read for anyone who has ever hit rock bottom, longed for a fresh start, or needed to heal a broken, aching heart. Readers absolutely love Dear Lily: ‘Hysterical and unbelievably relatable… This book was so funny and romantic, but at the same time, extremely emotional… Broke my heart and then turned around and put it back together again.’ Goodreads reviewer ‘An absolute delight to read!… This book took me through such a wide array of emotions – I was laughing one minute and practically crying the next… A roller coaster ride of emotions and a very surprising twist… Entertaining, fun and able to make you shed a few tears, you need to get your hands on this fab book!’ It’s All About the Thrill ‘All I can say is WOW.’ Shelley’s Book Nook, 5 stars ‘This book is wonderful. I found myself crying and then suddenly laughing out loud at the same time. If you are a fan of Eleanor Oliphant or cute little rom-coms, this book is for you.’ Goodreads Reviewer, 5 stars ‘Every once in a while I stumble across a book that is like a breath of fresh air, and that was the case with this gem. It was beautifully unique and extremely touching and way more emotional that I was expecting, I just adored it!... Incredibly funny… This really had it all, it was funny and charming, warm and wise and also heartbreaking.’ Novel Gossip ‘Will warm your heart and then turn around and break it. Laugh out loud funny and heart-achingly sad, this is one that will play on all of your emotions.’ Goodreads Reviewer ‘Such a wonderful, uplifting yet heartbreaking novel… I found myself laughing out loud.’ Goodreads Reviewer ‘A cross between Bridget Jones and Eleanor Oliphant. A poignant look at love, loss and the pursuit of happiness… I found myself flying through the pages as I lost track of time.’ Goodreads Reviewer ‘Makes you laugh, cry, feel the bottom drop out of your stomach and then sigh with satisfaction as you turn the last page.’ Goodreads Reviewer
