Perfect for fans of Michael Connelly or Nevada Barr, this gripping Layla Remington thriller from International Thriller Writers Award finalist Gil Reavill plunges readers beneath the glittering façade of Hollywood and into a terrifying underworld where beautiful women can just . . . disappear. Malibu is crumbling. A monster earthquake has just ripped apart some of the priciest real estate on the planet. In a bizarre twist, it has also unearthed a grim secret buried for years beneath one particularly unstable hilltop: a steel barrel containing the mummified remains of Tarin Mistry, the beautiful starlet who went missing more than a decade ago. When Detective Investigator Layla Remington looks into that wretched metal coffin, she realizes she’s just landed the case of a lifetime. But before Layla even strips off her latex gloves, a pair of hotshot LAPD detectives arrive on the scene and remove her from the investigation. Undeterred, she pursues her own line of inquiry. Risking her badge and her life, Layla’s determination to track down Tarin’s murderer takes her from the rarified air of exclusive canyon communities to seedy downtown sex clubs and the secluded lair of one of Hollywood’s most powerful men. But while Tarin’s case may be cold, her killer is poised to strike again—and in Layla, this depraved sociopath may have just found fresh prey.

The #1 New York Times bestselling “master of narrative journalism” and author of Black Hawk Down presents a compelling collection of true crime stories (New York Times). Acclaimed investigative reporter Mark Bowden has ferreted out unbelievable-yet-true stories of wrongdoing, murder and mayhem for decades. His illustrious body of work has won him a lifetime achievement award from the International Thriller Writers organization, and a reputation as “a Woodward that outdoes even Woodward” (Malcom Gladwell, New Yorker). The Case of the Vanishing Blonde collects six of Bowden’s most riveting stories—accounts spanning four decades of fascinating characters and unsettling tales to illustrate all manner of crimes and the ways technology has progressively altered criminal investigation. Ed Asner Excerpts “After my father’s funeral, my aunt Mildred admonished, ‘Jerry, now you’re the man of the house.’ I was 12 and it was the height of the Depression. How was I going to do it?” “Panicked by Orson Welles’ ‘War of the Worlds,’ radio broadcast, my boss, Mr. Wiener, who owned the drug store, raced out the door. I assumed to fight the aliens or sell them some Pepto-Bismol.” “During WWII, my racist co-workers threatened, ‘We don’t appreciate you with the nig*er.’ “I’ll eat my lunch with whoever I want,’ I said defiantly, hoping they didn’t see my knees knocking.” “On a troop ship heading home on leave, I rolled 11 straight passes. If I’d been in Vegas, I’d have owned the hotel.” “My most charismatic customer was Muhammad Ali, the most relaxed was Bing Crosby, and the most menacing was mobster Alan Dorfman who wound up murdered, gangland style.” “Because of the unexpected steep grade, I fell. I lay helpless in the street, 96-years old, bleeding and unable to get up. But after being rescued I wondered, had I finally met my guardian angel?”

Evil. It comes in different shapes, sizes, shades and flavours. It is sometimes subtle, sometimes blatant but always destructive. It can be strange, it can be bizarre, it can be hidden, it can be in plain sight. It can be fascinating to some, frightening to others but ignored at everyone's peril. Samuel 'Juice' Petty purposely attracted evil. He courted it, he danced with it, he loved it. One night he heard the voice of Charlie Manson calling his name and embraced it, followed it to a California desert and started a new Family. With the final sign fulfilled - a black man in the White House - Juice released the ultimate of evils - Helter Skelter - once again. While the intersection of desperate needs and irresistible wants fashioned an unholy alliance of the unlikeliest of associates which brought his ultimate desire - to free Charlie to walk in the desert once more - within his grasp.

Download Seven Librarian Detective Series Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
Bobby Cinema has written seven detective stories in one book about each different character going through solving a difficult case, being in the action and deal with real intensive stuff they had to go through from solving cases. For these seven ordinary detectives and their team, their work usually ends up in a library, which is their sanctuary and a place to read and relax at the same time. The first detective series is called Raymond: Librarian PI. Ray Levenstein, a former FBI agent, took over the head librarian job from his friend Jerry who helped him get in the LAPD police academy and became his mentor when he grew up. He was forced into retirement when he was shot in the line of fire when he was a FBI agent. Ray was well respected and highly decorated as an FBI agent, but he decided to retire at a young age of thirty-five. He took over Jerry’s job as a head librarian in the Los Angeles Public Library and decided to run a detective agency in his library since he has a PI license. He hires Kevin Sandler, Nick Arbuckle, and Alyson Harris who joined the PI team. Thank you for reading the Seven Librarian Detective series. I hope you enjoy reading them. Who knows, maybe I can come up with another princess story in another time. This is my seventh book that I turn my seven librarian detective stories in one book. See you next time, and the library is now closed. Good-bye!

Vietnam, April 15, 1969. At first light, the air over Firebase Diamond III was full of dust from four hours of incoming artillery shells exploding around the perimeter. Alpha and Delta companies fought for their lives during the ground attack. The air was thick with the smell of napalm from the jet air strikes. The men sat behind their bunkers, staring blankly across the open rice paddies looking for remnants of the two battalions of NVA soldiers that hurled themselves at the firebase. The men would remember and talk about this fight for the rest of their lives. Los Angeles, May 17, 1974. Officers used buildings and vehicles along Fifty-Fourth Street for cover. Weapon fire was erupting from the small house. The officers learned there were four hundred officers at the scene. Nine thousand rounds of ammo were fired between the suspects and the police. Many officers ran out of ammunition in the first few minutes of the fight. The gunfight continued for two hours.
